Speech

Dear classmates and teachers:

Probably, after four years there is many things to say, but it is not esay to resume them in a couple of words. For this reason I think I should begin telling you why I am here. The fact is that studyng translation it was not my first option; it is due to destiny that I am here, and the true is that now after four years has gone I am happy because I learned to love translation and the world of words. I know that you as me, have lived important thinsgs in this period, things that sometimes made you smile or cry, but now that we are in the final step of this process I think is important to look backward and see how we get here and what we have become. Being at the university it is not easy, everybody know there is a lot pression, besides you want to have good marks, and sometimes reached these goals was like an " imposible mission", but my classmates: we made it!. For all these reasons I want to remenber the good times, like when I had breakfast with the people that today I can say they are my friends or that days without sleep, because we had to study or did an assignment. All those memories will keep in our minds, and when years go through will make you smile. Many people said that this period is very important and also will define your future, and I agree, but I also think this is just another stage of life, an important one but just another, because now is going to start real life. So, I want to say thank you to my classmates that made classes more bearable and to my friends that light my darkest days. And of course to all the teachers that always were pushing and worrying about us, because that show how good teachers you are. Thank you all the people that helped me or shared his/her time with me, in some moment of these four years. My dear classmates if you look backward you will see that we are better now. For concluding as I poet that I love said : " Because at the end of my hard road I see that I was the architect of my own destiny " Thank you

Halloween

I think is a little funny that some years ago Halloween was something that we just saw on American movies, and nowadays is a festivity completely adopt by our country. In my case, I love the idea of seeing vampires, zombies and mummies walking by the street. This festivity is the perfect excuse for enjoy and being children for one night. And of course for watch horror movies, if you don't do it is not a real Halloween.

Even though I'm not a child, in this Halloween I'm gonna out to ask for candies. The reason of that is my daughter, of course I have to go with her, so I will spend tomorrow night walking by the streets. My daughter loves the idea of use a costume, and being awake all night long. Even more she decided what costume wants to wear, and her choice was “ Draculaura” a character of a cartoon called “ Monster high” a school where the students are wolves, vampires, ghosts.. and so on. To sum up,if my daughter shares her candies I will ended Halloween night with a big smile in my face at same that her.

Parque Forestal

If you're a little stress and tired of the fast pace of life that we live in, I know the best place for being relax and renew your energies; Parque Forestal, this is a big park located in the center of Santiago, and covers Barrio Lastarria area and the historic Centre of the city. There you can find places like: Bruna Palace, Ruben Dario Museum, Palacio Bellas Artes Museum Mercado Central and Estación Mapocho. In all these places you can find typical Chilean food ( in Mercado Central) or several cultural activities all the year ( at the Museum). Parque Forestal is the most traditional park in Santiago, and is lined by the Mapocho River. If you wanna go there you can do it by subway; there are three subway station that let you there: Bellas Artes, Baquedano and Puente Cal y Canto. About the prices you don't have to worry 'cause the park is totally free, but if you decide to go to the Museum you have to pay 600 Chilean pesos if you are an adult or 300 Chilean pesos if you're a student, which is very cheap. In short if you love nature and culture. Besides you love food and you are looking for a place that combines these those things, you have to visit Parque Forestal.

My first job

The first time that I worked, I was 18 I worked as a receptionist in a gym. At the beginning I was a part-time employee, but a few time before I start to work full time. It was an exhausting job, because I had to do many things at the same time, even though it was a good time.
In that place I learned a lot, first I learned to work under pressure, I learned to work with people and the most important: I learned that it doesn't matter how important is your work, because the most important, is that you always have to give the best of you.

I worked as a receptionist for around one year, after that time for personal reasons I left the job. Working there I met very nice people and I made some friends too, but one thing that I always remember is all the affection and good wishes that I received the day when I went.

Seventh Art

When people think about art, most of them think in a picture like “ The Gioconda” or a sculpture like “ The David,” but they forget that there are many other art expressions like the movies. I'm really fond of movies, but I don't like all them, my favorites are those that leaves something in you: a phrase, an image and so on. Usually I prefer European or Asian movies; nevertheless, a few months ago an American movie attracted my attention, the name: “ The sunset limited”.

The plot of “ The Sunset Limited” is about an university teacher who tried to commit suicide and the religious man who stop him. Most of the plot happened in the apartment of the religious man, in this, the two men try to expose their feelings and beliefs to the other, closest to a what a philosophical discussion would be.While one of them has lost his faith and doesn't believe in anything; the other just tried to show another point of view. As the movie moves forward, the characters talk about: life, god and even love, and from time to time the roles seem to change. The sunset limited is based in the play of the same name, and probably isn't a movie for everyone. However even you believe or not in what the characters say, it makes you remember something: “Nothing is ever black or white”.
